Webinars: Your Influence as a Swiss Abroad

INFORMATION

As the umbrella organization of Swiss Clubs and Societies in the UK, FOSSUK has been tasked with organizing the election of the next CSA Delegates. As in previous years, we have appointed an independent sub-committee to manage the process.

Following a resolution passed at the May 2025 AGM, the UK has joined the OSA pilot project for Direct Elections. Along with 12 other countries or electoral districts, the UK will elect its delegates through an electronic voting system. This system, developed by the Bern University of Applied Sciences, ensures stringent data security and confidentiality, with the FDFA guaranteeing that personal data will remain inaccessible to third parties, including the University and the OSA.

Election Details:

  • Voting Period: April 11th – May 11th, 2025
  • The UK will elect five delegates for the next CSA term. The results will be announced at the FOSSUK AGM on June 7th, 2025, at the Swiss Embassy in London.

We encourage all Presidents of Clubs, Societies, and Associations to actively search for candidates within your communities to stand for election. Delegates play a key role in representing the interests of Swiss citizens in the UK at OSA meetings and in sharing important information with the community. They are the voice of the UK’s Swiss community in the "Parliament of the Fifth Switzerland."

Candidate Requirements:

  • Swiss citizen living in the UK, registered with the Swiss Embassy in London.
  • Fluent in either German or French (languages used in OSA Council meetings).
  • Able to attend two yearly OSA meetings (online and in Switzerland).

To stand for election, candidates must provide proof of registration either via documentation or verification from the Swiss Embassy in London. Applications close on February 15th, 2025. Candidate profiles and further information can be accessed on the FOSSUK website: www.swiss-societies.co.uk/elections.

Voter Registration:

  • Deadline: January 31st, 2025
  • To vote, you must be registered with the local Swiss representation and have a valid email address. Eligible voters will receive voting instructions from the FDFA by email when polls open on April 11th, 2025.
