Of approximately 120 applicants for the position of Director of the Organization of the Swiss Abroad (OSA), SwissCommunity, the OSA Board invited twelve candidates to an interview in Bern.
The board of the Organization of the Swiss Abroad (OSA), SwissCommunity, chaired by former Council of States member Filippo Lombardi, duly unanimously elected Dr. Lukas Weber as the new Director of the organization's Secretariat.
The 58 year old engineer and doctor of technical sciences from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich originally comes from Basel and lives in Fribourg. He is married to a Swiss-French dual citizen and is the father of a school-age child.
Thanks to his previous professional positions, Lukas Weber has experience assuming responsibility in various institutions and companies – for example, at the Parliamentary Services in Bern, the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences, the Swiss Chemical Society, and the Zurich Electricity Company (ewz). After running his own communications agency, Agentur E GmbH, in Fribourg, he joined the Swiss Blue Cross in 2018, where he was a member of the executive board responsible for communications and fundraising until 2024.
