OSA Spring meeting 2018 UK Delegates' Report now published

INFORMATION

The Council of the Swiss Abroad (CSA) had its Spring 2018 meeting at the Bern Town Hall (Rathaus) on Saturday, March 10th, 2018.

The main themes that were discussed were the following:

1. E-voting

2. Bank accounts for Swiss people abroad

3. Cuts to Supplementary Benefits

In other topics:

Franz Muheim presented a brief report from the commission in charge of improving representation in the CSA. The goal is for more and more countries to elect their CSA delegates democratically in the future. The Federation of Swiss Societies in the UK (FOSSUK) has been a pioneer in this domain, as the UK was one of the first few countries where all Swiss citizens were given the possibility to stand for the last 2017 CSA election, and to vote.

Vincent Croset’s proposal for having representatives of the Swiss abroad in the National council is moving forward, and the CSA delegates will debate about this topic in the next meeting.

The next CSA meeting, held together with the 96th Congress of the Swiss Abroad, takes place from August 10th to 12th in Visp/Viège. Registrations are now open on this link: [LINK]
